Seeing the Art of the Possible in creating better places was inspired by Joseph Hardy (1915-1995); Joseph was born in County Durham, a miner in the North East of England and a traditional skilled craftsperson.
His relentless drive to teach and share his vision for social and built regeneration and the subsequent benefits came a time when the North East of England saw dramatic rises in social and environmental deprivation.
His stories around historic buildings ignited ideas around the reuse for buildings of merit which had significance and social capital, reinforcing the importance of local and traditional skills and of conserving the natural environment; these interwoven themes creating a tapestry of intangible and built heritage
Such values are embedded in the working and proven methodology of Joseph Hardy & Company Ltd, its Associates and collaborators, led by his granddaughter Paulette who founded the company in legacy.
